Vessel Systems

Vessel Systems Repairs — Gold Coast

Sanitation, freshwater, pumps, bilges, seacocks and onboard plumbing — the systems that make the boat usable day to day.

What we look after

Describe the symptom — you don't need to work out which system it belongs to.

Sanitation, Heads & VacuFlush

Toilets that won't flush, vacuum systems that won't hold, odour that survives a pump-out, and blockages.

Holding Tanks, Macerators & Discharge

Tanks that won't empty, macerator faults, venting, discharge valves and leaks.

Freshwater, Plumbing & Pumps

No water pressure, pumps cycling or running on, leaks and washdown problems.

Bilges, Seacocks & Valves

Water in the bilge, bilge-pump faults, stiff seacocks and through-hull concerns.

Level Senders, Switches & Controls

Gauges reading wrong, pumps that won't cut out, and the 12V and 24V switching behind them.

Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Support

Vessel-side assessment, and coordination of licensed specialists where the work requires one.

Sanitation, heads and VacuFlush

The most common reason owners call us, and the system most often misdiagnosed.

A marine sanitation system is a loop, not a fixture. The head, the flush-water supply, the vacuum generator or discharge pump, the hoses, the holding tank, its vent, the level sender, the macerator and the discharge valves all depend on each other — which is why a fault in one part shows up as a symptom somewhere else entirely.

A smell that won't clear after a pump-out can have a cause the pump-out was never going to address. A head that won't hold vacuum can be a seal, a valve, a hose or a switch. A tank reading full when it's empty can be telling you about the sender rather than the tank. That's why the job starts with diagnosis rather than parts.

What we work on: VacuFlush systems, vacuum generators, toilet pumps, macerators, holding tanks, level switches and senders, valves, sanitation hoses, freshwater flush supply, and the associated 12V and 24V controls and switching — plus leaks, blockages, component replacement and full system diagnosis.

We work on VacuFlush and other marine sanitation systems. Gold Marine Solutions is not a Dometic dealer or authorised service centre.

You don't need to know which trade it is

You can describe the symptom perfectly and still not know who to ring. The toilet won't flush — is that a plumber? The bilge pump isn't running — is that electrical? The taps have gone quiet — is that the pump or the switch that runs it?

A fault that looks like plumbing can turn out to be a switch, a supply fault or a control circuit, and one that looks electrical can turn out to be a blocked hose. Because these systems combine plumbing with 12V and 24V controls, we check both sides from the start.

You don't need to identify the correct trade before contacting Gold Marine. That's our problem to sort out, not yours.

Work out the symptom. We'll work out the system.

Vessel systems

Because the smell may not be coming from the tank contents at all. Sanitation hoses become permeable with age, vents can block, seals and joints can let odour past, and residue sits in places a pump-out doesn't reach. Emptying the tank doesn't address any of those. Finding which one it is takes an inspection of the system rather than another pump-out.
There's no single interval — it depends on the hose, the system and how much the boat is used. What matters more than age is condition: hoses harden, become permeable, and start carrying odour long before they leak. We assess them as part of a sanitation job and tell you what we find.
Some repairs can be completed with the vessel afloat, depending on the system and scope. Head, pump, macerator, hose, sender and tank work may not require haul-out, while through-hull work can be different. We'll confirm the required approach before work begins.
No. VacuFlush is named here because owners ask for it by name, but we work across marine sanitation systems generally — vacuum, electric, manual and their associated plumbing and controls.
No. Refrigerant handling and 240V shore-power work sit with licensed specialists, as does a haul-out where a through-hull has to come out. Gold Marine can assess the vessel side, help coordinate the appropriate trade where requested, attend, and confirm the work against the agreed scope. Those specialists remain responsible for their own regulated work, licences and certification.
Tell us the vessel, where it's berthed and what the boat is doing, and we'll come back with a time. If you're working to a trip or departure date, say so when you call so we can confirm availability against your timing.

Something onboard not working?

Tell us what the boat is doing and where it's berthed, and we'll come back with a time and a quote. You don't need to diagnose it first.

Hoses, seals and pumps have a service life, and these are problems that are easier to deal with before they stop you using the boat. Ongoing technical management tracks that across the whole vessel. Vessel Management →
