Buying or Selling a Boat — Technical Assessment & Advice, Gold Coast

An objective technical opinion on what the vessel actually is, in writing.

Which side of the deal are you on?

Buying a vessel

You've found a boat and it looks right. Before you commit, you want someone technical to go through it properly and tell you plainly what you'd be taking on — engines, systems, condition, and what's likely to need attention in the next year or two.

Our Vessel Purchase Advisory covers the mechanical inspection, electronic diagnostics, a written report and a rectification schedule, with an optional review of the vessel's documentation and service history against the boat itself.

Selling a vessel

You'd rather know what a buyer's inspection is going to find before they find it. A technical assessment gives you a defect list you control, and time to decide what to rectify before listing and what to disclose.

It also means the questions that come up during the sale get answered with a report rather than a guess.

What a technical assessment covers

Gold Marine Solutions assesses the vessel as a set of working systems, not a walk-around.

Engines, gearboxes and drives. Charging, starting and vessel electrical. Cooling and fuel systems. Steering, controls, gauges and alarms. Bilges, seacocks and through-valves. Generator systems where fitted. Electronic diagnostics and fault history where the equipment supports it.

Where conditions allow, that includes thermal imaging while the vessel is running, which shows heat patterns a visual inspection can't — an exhaust elbow running hotter than its pair, a terminal warming under load.

It ends with a written Gold Marine report: findings grouped by priority, an overall condition summary, and what rectification would actually involve in time and parts.

Why Gold Marine

Gold Marine has no brokerage or commission interest in the transaction. Findings aren't contingent on the vessel proceeding to sale, and you're under no obligation to use us for any work that follows. The report reads the same whichever side of the deal asked for it.

Gold Marine combines a mechanical trade qualification with marine 12V and 24V electrical diagnosis, electronic diagnostics and thermal imaging, working across the Gold Coast and South East Queensland — marinas, private berths, yards and ramps, on everything from trailer boats to larger multi-system motor yachts. Recent work includes a pre-purchase mechanical survey on a Princess V50.

We provide technical and mechanical assessment — not structural hull surveying, vessel valuation, brokerage, insurance certification or AMSA statutory survey work. For statutory requirements you'll need an appropriately accredited AMSA surveyor, and we can help arrange a haul-out, hull survey, PPSR search or oil sampling where you'd like us to.

Where to from here

Tell us about the vessel — length, engines, where it is and when you need it done — and we'll come back with a quote and a time.
